DESCRIPTION:Nerd out at trivia in the museum’s Theory Restaurant. Our Educated Guess host will ask questions about science facts\, current events\, pop culture\, and scientific discovery in this multi-round\, interactive game. Grab some friends and build a team of up to 4 people. Prizes are awarded to the top three scoring teams\, so get your team together and test your knowledge! \n\n\n\n\nIn honor of Earth Day\, and in partnership with the Oregon Kelp Alliance\, this month’s theme will focus on underwater biomes dominated by kelp and seaweed\, the various organisms that live there\, and how they are important to modern human society. Will you pass the multiple choice round? Maybe the short answer section? Join us to find out! \n\n\n\n\nEducated Guess runs from 6:30 – 8:30 pm\, doors open at 6 pm. Food and drink will be available for purchase.

DESCRIPTION:A special Science Pub lecture in concert with the release of Dr. Prescod-Weinstein’s newest book\, The Edge of Space-Time: Particles\, Poetry\, and the Cosmic Dream Boogie.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbout the Lecture\n\n\n\n\nDrawing on poetry and popular culture—from Langston Hughes\, Queen Latifah\, and Lewis Carroll\, to Big K.R.I.T.\, Sun Ra\, and Star Trek—Dr. Prescod-Weinstein will take some of the most abstract concepts of theoretical physics and render them accessible for any who come to learn about the history and fundamental nature of our universe. \nHere we meet the quantum cat that is both dead and alive\, learn the difference between dark matter and dark energy\, explore the inner workings of black holes\, and investigate the possibility of a unified theory of quantum gravity\, following our speaker to the far reaches of the cosmic event horizon and down to the tiniest (and queerest) neutrino. \n\n\n\n\nAlong the way\,  informed by her deep knowledge of post-colonial history and Black feminist thought\, Prescod-Weinstein will challenge listeners to imagine a better path forward in our pursuit of humanity’s undeniable connection with the stars\, viewing physics as an essential way for everyone to look at the universe. \n\n\n\n\nScience Pubs are a casual lecture series located in fun venues across the region\, recommended for ages 10 and over \n\nFor tickets and more info: https://omsi.edu/events/science-pub-the-edge-of-space-time/
