DESCRIPTION:Oregon City\, Oregon.\n$30 – $60 sliding scale\, children pay their age\, see details.\nJoin us as we meander through a variety of habitats similar to those traversed by the Lewis & Clark expedition on their way to the Pacific coast. Most of these plants can be found in your own local forests\, fields\, and neighborhoods. Learn identification\, use\, and preparation. \nOregon City itself was best known for the settlers that followed Lewis & Clark in the mid 1800s. Artifacts and exhibits featured at the End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center are mostly about those settlers and early settlements. The actual end of the Lewis & Clark trip was at Fort Clatsop on the coast. We will not be at the interpretive center. \nWhat to Bring\n— Prepare for the weather\, comfortable walking\, hiking shoes\, or hiking sandals that can get dirty. No flip flops.\n— Money if you want to buy John’s books. $25-30 each\, sliding scale\, (list price is $28) cash or check. Edible Wild Plants\, Volumes 1 and/or 2. They will be available after the workshop to look at or buy.\n— Any remaining registration materials that you need to hand in. \nMeeting Location\nWe’ll be meeting outside the Newell Creek Canyon Nature Park. Here is a MAP to the parking area. If we run out of parking spaces\, park in the surrounding neighborhood. \n\n\n\nPricing Details\nSliding Scale Economics\nDue to hard economic times for some\, sliding scales are offered to support individual financial circumstances.  We ask participants to pay what they feel they can afford within the range offered for each workshop.  You decide what to pay using an honest assessment of your individual circumstances.  We do not ask anyone to explain their very personal decision.  The high end is a very reasonable price for these quality workshops for those who are doing well in this economy. We’ll explore several areas on Sauvie Island to inspect this spring’s early green delectables near the Vernal Equinox. See and sample from plants you pass by everyday. The earlier you start in the spring\, the more foods you can harvest in the year. It also pays to see plants at different stages of growth. Many plants will have emerged\, others we will identify where they are going to grow. Again\, choose either this or the morning workshop when you register. Here is a map to the site.\nWe’ll car pool and caravan from there to habitats on the island.
